New Year's Resolutions

Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet? We have. We want to keep dressing stylishly—without breaking the bank. Isn’t that always the hardest part? There are so many adorable styles and colors out there, it’s hard to say no. We’ve discovered that the best way to keep this resolution is to find the key pieces in your wardrobe that can carry over, not only to different outfits, but possibly to the next season as well!

Every year you end up just buying a winter coat in a neutral color because “at least it goes with everything.” But this winter you were seduced by that bright and beautiful hue. You received it for Christmas, and now you don’t know what to wear with it. Of course you can always wear it with jeans or a pair of black slacks, but is that all? Absolutely not.

For a dressier weekend look, don’t be afraid to pop a color underneath that wonderful coat of yours. You can keep it subtle by pulling the color in with a scarf or sheer shirt, or you can go bold by slipping into colored skinnies. Add some knee boots to lend balance to the ensemble, and you’re ready for your weekend fun.

Already have the blues about heading into work Monday morning? Your bright coat might be just the thing to lift your spirits. Pair it with a neutral colored pencil skirt and blouse to show off your professional work ethic, without compromising your spunky side.

Don’t feel like you have to retire your colors for your night life. That bright color over a dark dress and patterned tights will speak for itself. Confidently announce your presence in the room without ever having to speak a word.

The key to pulling this trend off is to get a color that compliments your skin tone or enhances some quality in your face. Do you have amazing green eyes? Go for that deep emerald you’ve been eyeing. Do you have natural roses in your cheeks? Blush is the color for you. Get a color that draws attention to you; don’t let the coat hog the spot light. After all, you’re wearing the coat, it’s not wearing you.
